We were given a present of 2 black hens about 6 weeks ago, as companions to the cock and one hen we had left. These have adapted very quickly to their surroundings. One has already produced 4 chicks- 2 black and 2 creamy yellow with brown stripes. They came out of their shells on Wednesday 16th June and are being well looked after by mother hen and Patrice! They have already been on a few long journeys into the nearby field. The other new hen is sitting on a clutch of eggs at the moment- so there might be more news in 2 weeks time!

New chicks

The second batch of chicks arrived on the 5th July- 4 black ones. They were born in the bushes near the back door. the first photo shows them when they were one day old and the second shows them going for their first walk on the grass (about 3 days old). We are hoping most of them will be hens!

At the beginning of July we had the CARM painting retreat as well as a music retreat and both groups enjoyed letting their senses lead them into prayer. In the photo you see the painters appreciating each other's work at the end of the retreat.

From the 5th to the 9th July we had a Dreams retreat led by Mel Ryley and Dana Sullivan from Chicago. The retreatants learned how our dreams can give strong spiritual guidance when we pay attention to them. One retreatant wrote, 'We thank Mel and Dana for their guidance in helping us grow in confidence in understanding what our dreams are saying to us and for helping us to see the great value of this in our spiritual journey.'

Mel and Dana
Capacitar exercises helped us to relax and dream.
